My Main Street Community Activator Ultimate Recipient List

The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) is proud to announce the final ultimate recipient list for community projects supported through the My Main Street Community Activator between 2022 and 2023. The program was implemented to support high-impact placemaking projects that revitalized neighborhoods and reimagined public spaces including main streets, downtown strips and plazas through hands-on support and one-time payments.

CUI received $10 million as part of an overall $23.25-million investment from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), to deliver non-repayable contributions of $25,000 - $250,000 to support placemaking initiatives.

Projects:

Funding recipients leveraged their local community’s specific assets, inspiration and potential to quickly implement placemaking interventions that yielded a wide range of social and economic benefits. This made the My Main Street funding a powerful tool to support communities in recovering from COVID-19 and to revitalize main streets and commercial districts.
