St. Catharines - Merritton

Merritton was amalgamated into St. Catharines in 1960 and residents maintain a distinct sense of community identity. The area has undergone a significant amount of change in recent years. The commercial areas have many independent businesses which would benefit from the intensive support of the My Main Street program. There are 452 businesses employing 4,787 people in the Merritton/Hartzel Road area. The Merritton district area has a visible minority population of 1,415 in addition to 300 residents that identify as Aboriginal.
